As reported by the “Good Fruit Grower”, The U.S. Food and Drug Administration released on January 4th, the first two parts of their proposed food safety regulations to enforce the Food Safety Modernization Act signed into law by President Obama in 2011.  These proposed regulations could bring big changes to the food chain, from grower to retailer. Additional parts of the new law will be proposed later in the year. For those tree fruit growers and shippers affected by these proposed changes, here are links to the two parts of the regulatory package being proposed: Standards for the Growing, Harvesting, Packing, and Holding of Produce for Human Consumption Current Good Manufacturing Practice and Hazard Analysis and Risk-Based Preventive Controls for Human Food The deadline for public comments to FDA’s two-part proposed rule is May 16, 2013. We offer a variety of color coded products to aid with these HACCP programs, including Remco handling tools, and hand held plastics bins.
