PICKING UP THE PACE WITH RACKING AND CONVEYOR SYSTEM
Wholesale Botanicals
Vancouver, Washington
The Challenge: Wholesale Botanicals has had rapid growth in a short span of time, which required them to streamline their pick process and organize their storage. Boxes and oil canisters lay on pallets covering a quarter of the operational floor and they were picking from hand held shelving in a U shape, causing employees to take more time and effort to find the right product. Botanicals have over 100 different oils, so it was becoming difficult to keep track of products.
Solution: DACO mapped out their facility and discussed options and the best option for them was to clear the floor while adding tall pallet racking to the left and back walls. It would take care of the clutter on the floor and free up more area for working. The owner was keen on the gravity conveyor presented to him, so a plan was drawn up. Initially, they looked at 6 shelves of the gravity conveyor that would hold 10 different items per shelf, which would be 60 total throughout the racking system. Each section had one 8ft long aluminum roller track, which changed once the number of oils they carried were discussed. It was decided that they needed to double the gravity conveyor and build it with taller uprights to store more above the units.

Brett and Jon were very understanding through the entire process even with multiple revisions and layout changes. We switched up the layout with the owner on the day of the installation and install team put in extra effort to ensure the finished configuration was what the customer visualized.
