How Washington DNR Solved Dock Downtime with Custom Sliding Doors

The Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR) manages millions of acres of public land, and that means keeping their operations running smoothly. But when two of their loading docks started creating more problems than they solved, it was time for an upgrade.

The Challenge

DNR’s existing bay doors weren’t cutting it. They were poorly fitted, lacked ventilation, and failed to provide proper security. Birds and insects were constantly making their way inside, and the facility was at risk for equipment damage, contamination, and higher energy costs. The department needed a solution that delivered a better fit, improved airflow, and higher protection for valuable assets.

The Solution

After reviewing door styles, sizes, and lock options, DACO partnered with Goff’s Enterprises to design a custom installation that would meet DNR’s operational goals.

Installed:

  • (3) Side Seal Sliding Doors, 14’x14′, red, with cam lock

  • (2) Side Seal Sliding Doors, 9’x10′, red, no cam lock

  • (1) Side Seal Sliding Door, 12’x12′, red, with cam lock

The vibrant red color not only enhanced the appearance of the loading area but also improved visibility for safety during active dock use.

Key Improvements

  • Better ventilation reduced pest entry and helped maintain cleanliness

  • Cam locks on larger doors improved security and asset protection

  • Custom sizing created a proper seal, improving insulation and energy efficiency

  • Sleek red finish provided a professional look and boosted visibility

  • Modular design allowed for specific locking needs and access levels

The Result

Today, DNR’s loading docks are safer, more secure, and easier to manage. With better airflow, improved energy efficiency, and a modern look, this upgrade went beyond replacing doors. It solved real operational pain points that had been slowing them down.
