If you work in the manufacturing, processing, or distribution industry, you understand the stress repetitive motions put on your body. One way to minimize the damaging repetitive motions is to use a scissor lift table
. A scissor lift table will raise, lower, or position a load closer to the worker. Re-positioning a load to better fit the worker can reduce repetitive motion injuries which in turn reduces pallet loading and unloading times by as much as 40%. The reduced loading times and lower injury potentials increase productivity and profits. Three types of scissor lift tables and pallet positioner lift tables that we offer can maximize your workflow and profits.
Three Types of Scissor Lift Tables
- Scissor Lift Tables
- Mobile Scissor Lift Tables
- Pallet Positioner Lift Tables
The standard scissor lift table provides the ability to raise and lower goods and/or pallets to the optimal working height. These tables come with a variety of options to best suit the needs of the job including table size, table heights, operation methods, and capacities. Some lift tables are also mobile, providing the ability to move the pallets to whichever location they are needed. A variation on the standard lift table is the pallet positioner. In addition to the lift table functions these can also include a rotating table, easy access for pallet trucks, or both. When you find the right table for the job, productivity
will soar. What Lift Table Is Best For The Job?
Whenever a company is constantly loading and unloading goods and/or pallets, a lift table should be a tool to discuss using. There are many options to consider when looking to purchase a lift table and making the wrong choice may prove to be harmful to productivity, as much as not having a lift table at all. Let’s take a look at some areas to consider when deciding on the best lift table for your job. Answer these seven questions to find out which options are best for your application.
- What is the needed table size?
- What is the weight of a pallet?
- Does the job require the lift table to be mobile?
- Does the table need to have a variable height?
- Does the load need to rotate?
- Does the table need to have easy access for pallet trucks?
- How do you want the table to be operated?
The answers to these questions will help guide you to choosing the perfect lift table
for your job. We offer lift tables and pallet positioners to provide you the best solution for the job.
What is the needed table size? Different jobs require different loads. Our scissor lift tables come in a wide variety of sizes to match the load the job requires. If your job requires a large lift area, our LoProfile Hydraulic Scissor Lift Table
could be your solution. Our largest table in that series measures 45.5” wide by 81” long. If you are looking for a smaller unit we also have tables as small as 17.7” by 27.6” and all sizes in between. Keep in mind while capacity is not dependent on table size, the small tables usually have a lower weight capacity.
What is the weight of a pallet? All Scissor lift tables are raised or lowered by hydraulic systems. Putting too much pressure on the hydraulic system is dangerous and has the potential to cause serious harm to people and product. Be aware of the weight of your pallets before buying a lift table so you do not put the job, your workers, and your product, in a hazardous situation. Some of our lift tables are rated for loads of 5,000 pounds while other tables are rated for as little as 220 pounds. Again, weight capacities range between those two capacities. Make sure you choose the proper weight capacity for the job to avoid any potential dangers. Does the job require the lift table to be mobile? If you need the ability to load and unload goods in different areas of the workplace a mobile lift table
may be your answer. Our mobile scissor lift tables have different options to maximize the productivity of the job. For example, our ESX Self Leveling Mobile Scissor Lift Tables provide load compensation which will keep the product at the optimal working height. Other mobility options include the BX & BXB Mobile Lift Tables which provide casters, wheels, brake locks, push handles, and more.
Does the table need to have a variable height? Lift tables change heights to match their current load, they are lower to the ground when the pallet is loaded and raise up when the load become lighter. Sometimes a job calls for the ability to raise the load higher than standard lift tables. In those instances, you will want a lift with a double scissor, giving you the additional height required. A scissor lift that does not meet the needed height will quickly drain the productivity of your job.
Does the load need to rotate? There could be a number of reasons a load may need to rotate and if the job calls for rotation, pallet positioners are the right tool. Our pallet positioners
allow for the pallet to be rotated while on the lift table. The EZ Up Scissor Lift Tables have a center pivot point which allows the table top to rotate to whatever position is needed. Pallet Truck Access
Does the table need to have easy access for pallet trucks? If your job requires lots of pallet movement and you use a pallet truck for transport, having a lift table with easy pallet truck access is crucial. Our EZ Off Lifter Pallet Positioner allows for the loading and unloading of pallets with 3 sided access. This table lift also has a rotating top. Safety is most important especially when working with a pallet table with lots of moving parts and the potential of a moving pallet trucks. This table includes a feet-clear safety system and warning lights and alarms to keep workers safe. After all if a lift table is used to protect workers from repetitive use injuries
, you will want to make sure they are protected from any other potential dangers as well.
Scissor Lift Table Operation
How do you want the table to be operated? As mentioned above, lift tables use hydraulic systems to raise or lower the table. There are options as to how the hydraulic system is operated. Some lift tables require manual operation. For example, the worker will need to use a foot pump to move the height of the table. Other tables include electric or air operated hydraulic systems. For example, the CompacLift Hydraulic Scissor Lift Table has the option for manual, electric, or air hydraulic systems. These systems can be beneficial to workers as they require less labor to raise larger loads. Some systems have a self-contained power unit while other require an external power unit. Know when and where you will use your lift table to be sure you have access to any external power.
Scissor Lift Tables & Productivity

for your job. When deciding which table is best for your job, take the time to consider the questions posed above.
