Plastic Pallets [su_spacer size="10"] If you operate a food plant, pallets are an important investment for the handling, transportation and storage of raw materials and finished products. Generally, you'll need to choose among wood, plastic or metal pallets for use within the plant. Plastic pallets are the best option among the three. Some of the advantages they have over wood and metal pallets include the following. Hygienic way to handle food products When operating a food processing plant, hygiene is a primary concern. Unhygienic conditions can lead to contamination which in turn is a health hazard to consumers of your end product. Unlike wood, plastic isn't prone to growth of mold. It's inorganic nature ensures that microorganisms cannot thrive on the pallet's surface. Many of the plastic pallets are made using non-porous high grade plastic and in some instances FDA approved materials. This ensures that they won't stain easily in case of spills. The non-porous surface also makes the plastic pallet resistant to corrosion by acids and alkalis present in most foods you might be handling. Their smooth surfaces make them easy to clean, which can be done using water, which is inadvisable when dealing with wood pallets or metal pallets that are susceptible to rust. The non-absorbent nature of plastic makes it easy to clean, dry and reuse the pallets within a short period of time. Unlike their wood and metal counterparts, there are no splinters, nails, broken boards, etc. to deal with and they will not harbor insects, making them ideal for exporting product. Light pallets that last long Plastic pallets are lighter compared to wood and metal pallets. The light build makes them easier to handle and transport within the food plant. The light weight however doesn't compromise on durability. All pallets are created from high grade plastic which can handle heavy loads without bending or breaking. Durability is further enhanced by the fact that the pallet design doesn't include joints which might come loose when handling. Resistance to corrosion, rust and moisture ensure that the pallet can be used for years to come. Eco friendly Plastic pallets are made from reusable material. Many pallets in the market today are made from recycled plastic. This helps to preserve forests which are the primary source for wooden pallets. Easy to use and store within the available space Plastic pallets come in a variety of designs and sizes, and are designed for easy handling regardless of the equipment used. The design ensures that the pallet can be lifted from all four sides. Each pallet is created in a pre-designed mold. This means each plastic pallet that's created using the mold are the same size and dimensions as the others. This makes it easy to stack the pallets onto each other for storage when not in use. It also enables you to select the preferred pallet size that will work well for your specific food processing system.
