1 in 88 children are diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder.  In spite of advancements in research and clinical care, there is still much we don’t know about autism.  Seattle Children’s Autism Center provides assessment, diagnosis, medication evaluation and management, and a variety of therapies for children with autism spectrum disorders as well as support and education for their families. Seattle Children's Hospital has been a part of my life since I was a child. My mother became involved in fund raising for the hospital when I was 8 or 9 years old, and I have been volunteering, helping alongside her ever since.
Over the years my mom, through her work with various guilds, has helped to raise millions of dollars for the hospital, and I could not be more proud of her.  So when I met my wife, Andrea, it was no surprise that she became involved in helping the hospital as well.  4 years ago, she joined the Seattle Autism Guild, who raises money for the Children's Hospital's Autism Center through various events, the largest being an annual auction.  Andrea was the chair person for the auction this year, and was in charge of organizing everyone and everything necessary to make the auction come together and be successful. This was a mammoth task that can only be accomplished through the tireless efforts of many volunteers who truly believe in the benefits that Seattle Children's Hospital brings to autistic children. Some of the items auctioned off were an Astronaut Training at NASA, a Villa in Italy, a trip to Bali, and Spring Training with Chuck Armstrong to name a few.  Through everyone’s efforts this year, the auction raised over $300,000 dollars, and I couldn't be prouder of my wife and everyone else involved that made it happen.
